Lotus’s Kimi Raikkonen will not be testing as scheduled in Barcelona on Saturday after coming down with suspected food poisoning overnight. The team’s third driver, Davide Valsecchi, will take over for the morning session.
Raikkonen’s team mate, Romain Grosjean, who left Spain to return home after completing his two days in the car, is understood to have been recalled to the Circuit de Catalunya for Saturday afternoon’s running.
Reigning GP2 champion Valsecchi landed his third-driver role with Lotus in January after impressing the team during last November’s young driver test in Abu Dhabi. It is hoped Raikkonen will be well enough to return to action on Sunday, the final day of pre-season testing.
